Speaker Q&A: Harvard Professor, Benjamin Friedman

On November 20, 2025, members had the chance to speak with Harvard Professor Benjamin Friedman, who shared his ideas about how religion and moral values have influenced economic thinking over time. He explained how early thinkers like Adam Smith and David Hume connected ethics and economics, and how those ideas still matter today. Professor Friedman also talked about his current research on the Enlightenment and encouraged students to stay curious and think about the human side of economics. During the Q&A, he answered questions about his career, his research, and how social values continue to shape modern economics, leaving members with a better understanding of how ideas can shape economic progress.
