JEC NYC hosted its first ever in-person forum on February 4th, 2023! We want to thank members for joining us for this special event and would like to express much appreciation for our two speakers, Mr. Carl Quintanilla and Professor Arun Sundararajan. Mr. Quintanilla, a journalist and anchor for CNBC, shared stories about the work he does in media as well as the steps he took to get there. In the past, he has co-hosted the Today Show and has won an Emmy award, a Peabody award, and Edward R. Murrow award for his coverage of Hurricane Katrina—stories which were fascinating to hear about. Professor Sundararajan of the Stern School of Business shared how digital technologies, such as ChatGPT, will influence future businesses and the lives of employees. He took members through a six-step process that explained how new businesses will alter the need for human labor, and he spoke of predictions which argue that AI is likely to increase inequality. Following the speakers’ discussions, members got the chance to engage in an informative Q&A session.

In between speakers, members also enjoyed a networking break in which they met other members of the club, the JEC NYC Board of Directors, and the Forum’s speakers, and they enjoyed food at the lovely Alumni Ventures in New York City. We hope everyone appreciated getting to know each other and learning how to get further involved in the JEC NYC itself. Thank you so much for attending, and we hope to see you at future events soon!
