Speaker Event: UMich Ross Professor Stephen Leider

On October 23, 2025, Professor Stephen Leider joined us to share insights from his background in economics and his current research in technology and operations management. He explained how behavioral economics challenges the assumption of perfect rationality, highlighting biases like loss aversion, overconfidence, and social influence that shape decisions—from incentives and inventory management to AI adoption. Professor Leider noted that many people underuse AI due to lack of confidence or desire for control, emphasizing its greatest value lies in serving as a complement to human learning and judgment, not a replacement. Overall, it was a fantastic event!
